This morning I gave Hope a very gentle soak in a very warm bath so further soften and loosen her mange crust. The crust around her rear end was about 2cm thick and had cemented/frozen her legs in place. This meant that I've not been able to see if she was injured or whether she could actually walk.
After her soak this morning; during which I was able to gently remove a bit more crust, I wrapped Hope up in a warm towel and put her back to bed with an extra heat pad. I checked her after an hour and she had put herself back to bed in her cubby nest so I changed the bedding material to ensure that she was warm and dry before tucking her away to sleep for the rest of the day.
This evening when I got her up for her evening antibiotics I decided to see if I could get her to walk for me. She wasn't too keen, but after a few minutes I had the bright idea of seeing if she would like BabyCat bikkies and she LOVED them. So, I laid a little Hansel and Gretel trail of them out on the blanket she was on and she sloooooowly started to move along as she ate them.
She's extremely weak and unsteady as her muscles are atrophied from lack of use but walk she can which is FAB! She streeeeeetches each leg right out as she walks and I can only imagine the relief she is feeling at being able to move and walk again with an almost full range of motion.
